Terms of use

1. Use and eligibility

Please read these Terms before playing. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle information. Playing does not constitute consent to optional advertising or marketing uses of your information.

You must be at least 13 to use AniGauntlet. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these Terms and supervise your use. Any purchase must be made or authorized by an adult who can enter into a binding contract.

2. Playing and sharing results

The current public games are free to play. If we introduce an optional paid offering, its price and purchase terms will be disclosed before you authorize a charge.

We permit you to access the service for personal entertainment, subject to these Terms. This permission concerns our service and the rights we control. It does not grant ownership of, or an independent license to reuse, third-party characters, artwork, text, audio, video, cards, or trademarks.

Game rules appear with each mode. Answers, attributes, clues, difficulty, statistics, and results may contain mistakes or differ from other sources. We may correct errors and address cheating. Unless separate official rules expressly provide otherwise, scores, streaks, rankings, and virtual game elements have no monetary value and do not entitle you to a prize or payment.

3. Acceptable use

Do not interfere with other players or the operation or security of the service. In particular, do not:

• Bypass access restrictions or rate limits, probe private systems without authorization, or distribute malicious code.
• Submit fabricated results, automate gameplay to manipulate community statistics, impersonate another person, or engage in fraud.
• Use automated tools to bulk extract our game data or overload our website or API without permission.
• Infringe others' rights or use the service unlawfully.

These restrictions do not limit uses protected by applicable law or rights granted under an applicable open-source or content license. Ordinary search-engine indexing of public pages consistent with our published crawler instructions is permitted.

4. Ownership and independent status

Rights in AniGauntlet's original software, branding, and materials remain with their respective owners. Separately licensed material remains subject to its applicable license, and these Terms do not override permissions that license gives you.

AniGauntlet is an independent creator project. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the owners of the franchises featured in the games. Franchise names, characters, artwork, dialogue, card designs, and other third-party materials remain the property of their respective rights holders. References to a franchise identify the subject of a puzzle; they do not indicate an official relationship.

5. Availability and changes

We may change, suspend, or discontinue free features or particular content, including to correct errors, protect the service, or address rights complaints. We do not promise that any particular franchise, mode, puzzle, or asset will remain available.

Progress stored in your browser may be lost when you clear storage, change devices, or use browser settings that prevent storage. We do not promise to recover local progress. Changes to any paid service will be governed by the purchase terms and applicable consumer law.

6. Optional support and third-party services

Links to Ko-fi and other third-party services take you to services with their own terms and privacy practices. Any payment is subject to the terms shown before you authorize it. Supporting AniGauntlet may unlock features for your AniGauntlet account, which we describe where we offer them. Support does not purchase anything else, including access to the games, ownership of any content, or a promise of future development.

Support for AniGauntlet is not offered as a tax-deductible charitable contribution. Contact support@anigauntlet.com about a mistaken or unauthorized support payment so we can review it with the relevant provider. Nothing in these Terms limits refund, payment-dispute, or other rights that applicable law gives you.

7. Suspension

We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address a material violation of these Terms, fraud, security threats, legal requirements, or harm to the service or others. Where practical and lawful, we will explain the reason and provide a way to contact us about a mistake. Suspension does not eliminate mandatory consumer rights or any refund obligation.

8. Disclaimers

Subject to the rights preserved in Section 10, the service is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not warrant uninterrupted operation, error-free content, compatibility with every device, or preservation of locally stored progress. To the extent applicable law permits, we disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement. This disclaimer does not assert that we have obtained permission from every third-party rights holder.

9. Limitations of liability

Subject to Section 10 and only to the extent permitted by applicable law, Ayr Software LLC will not be liable to you for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service. For claims subject to a lawful contractual limit, our total aggregate liability to you arising out of or relating to the service will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amounts you paid us for the service during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

10. Rights these Terms preserve

Sections 8 and 9 do not exclude or limit liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any liability that applicable law does not permit us to exclude or limit. They do not limit mandatory refunds, statutory remedies, or nonwaivable consumer, privacy, or data-protection rights.

For New Jersey consumers, these Terms do not waive rights or remedies under the New Jersey Consumer Fraud Act or the Truth-in-Consumer Contract, Warranty and Notice Act. The exclusions and limitations in Sections 8 and 9 do not apply to claims under those statutes. Nothing restricts truthful reviews, reporting concerns to regulators or law enforcement, or exercising rights protected by law.

11. Governing law and disputes

New Jersey law and applicable U.S. federal law govern these Terms, without depriving you of mandatory protections available under the law that applies to you. You may contact support@anigauntlet.com to try to resolve a dispute informally. Doing so is optional and does not delay a filing deadline or restrict access to courts, small-claims procedures, or regulators. These Terms do not require arbitration or waive class-action rights.

12. Changes to these Terms

We will post revised Terms with a new effective date. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes through the service or another appropriate channel and obtain renewed agreement where required. Changes will not retroactively reduce rights relating to an existing dispute or alter an already-paid subscription period contrary to its purchase terms or applicable law.

If a court determines that a provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to apply to the extent permitted by law. Any applicable purchase terms and these Terms describe the agreement for the relevant service, without excluding representations or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Rights complaints and contact

Send copyright, trademark, attribution, or other rights concerns to support@anigauntlet.com. Include the specific AniGauntlet page or asset, the work or right involved, your connection to it, and contact details so we can investigate. Our Rights & contact page explains the information useful for copyright notices. We may restrict access to material while reviewing a concern.

14. Accounts and profiles

Accounts are optional. To use one, you must be at least 13 and agree to these Terms. An account is for one person. Keep your email and sign-in methods secure, because anyone who controls them can sign in as you. Tell us at support@anigauntlet.com if you think someone else has used your account.

Other players can see your display name, username, and picture. Use only a name and picture you have the right to use. Do not use them to impersonate anyone, to reveal someone else's personal information, to harass, or to show sexual, violent, hateful, or unlawful content. Do not upload a picture of another person without their permission.

Players can report a name or picture. We may reset a name, remove a picture, or suspend an account that breaks these Terms, as Section 7 describes. We report child sexual abuse material to the authorities as the law requires.

Streaks, collections, achievements, room placements, and head-to-head records come from what players' devices report. Like other scores under Section 2, they have no monetary value. Linking Discord may give you a role in the AniGauntlet Discord server; we ask Discord to remove it when you unlink Discord or delete the account. A Supporter badge shows when Ko-fi support is matched to your account by email; we may also give an account supporter status ourselves. Section 6 describes what support unlocks.

You can download your account data or delete your account at any time from your account settings. The Privacy Notice says what deletion removes. An account keeps a copy of your synced progress, but we do not promise to keep it indefinitely, and we cannot restore a deleted account.
